Every holiday season needs some sweetness, whether we're talking about scrumptious treats, good turns towards others, or a palette that is a gentle and inviting as a dish of candy. Pink is my favourite colour of all time, and one that I love to incorporate into my holiday projects on a fairly regular basis. This year I made two Christmas cards that included a hefty dose of this girly, cheerful colour.
Taking its style and colour palette cues from the 1950s, this card features see-through acrylic snowflakes topped with lacy white K&Co. stickers, velvety grey Thickers, mint green pompom trim, pink and aqua-green crochet trim, clear bling, and a cute pink bow.
Oodles of layers, layers (starting with a base of wonderful Gina K dark brown cardstock), embellishments, and textures call this vintage meets modern shabby chic card home. Here pink appears in the lace, paper, flowers, and sentiment chipboard piece, but remains winter thanks to the softer shades and other hues (light blue, silver, forest green, red, etc) that it was partnered with.
This past week was a very busy one on our end, as I’m sure it was for many of you as well. A shopping trip for my husband’s gifts on Wednesday did a number (as I fully knew ahead of time that it would) on my health, and I’ve been laid up ever since. I suspect I will be for at least a day or two, more, but in a way I don’t really mind because I'm using that time to work my way through a rather hefty laundry list of things I want/need to get done online before we kick off 2013.
I love being productive in just about any capacity, and am grateful to have this time amidst the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season to finally get to various things online that I’ve been hoping to do for ages.
Case in point, last night (at long last!) I finally joined Facebook. It’s true! If you’d like to be friends friends there, you can find add me here. I’d be delighted to connect with my scrapbooking and card making friends online and really hope our paths will cross there.
Just three more sleeps until Christmas, I can hardly wait – but in the meantime, I’ll be keeping myself busy learning some of the ins and outs of Facebook!
These cards are so beautiful. I wish I had the talent in scrapbooking and card making.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sean, you always say the sweetest things to me. I'm sure you'd be an awesome paper crafter - I'd be super happy to send you a "starter pack" of scrapbooking items if you ever want to give it a spin.

Now how on earth did I miss this blog of yours? I'm going to vent for just a wee second, "I hate fibro!" OK, I'm all done... feel much better now :D So you have taken the FB plunge?! I just kind of float along - there is still tons I don't understand but, whatever. I manage to have a presence on FB, can post things and post to people's pages so I'm satisfied. I decided a long time ago that I just didn't have the time to get to know all the ins and outs of all the different social media thingy whatsits :D.
ReplyDeleteHave a very Happy Christmas and feel better soon (I know exactly how you feel)!
Hugs,
Beth P
Hi sweet Beth,
DeleteVenting is always 100% permitted here, so vent away anytime your heart desires! I tend to vent here actually a lot more than I do over at Chronically Vintage. I think that part of the reason you didn't spot this blog before is because, as I'm the first to admit, I've done almost nothing to intentionally promote it, gain followers, etc. So far it's pretty much just been a cozy little corner of the web for me to create a photo record of some of my paper crafting records on (if I can find time/feel well enough to craft at all - let alone blog about it ;) ).
Indeed, I took the FB plunge. The only reason I held off, actually (and I'm going to post about more in depth on CV in the new year) is due to the fact that I have a very dangerous ex (from a horribly abusive relationship I was in many years ago) who is there, and whom I've really not wanted to share any social media sites with. However, I've grown tired of living under that fear and am just going to approach FB from that regard as carefully as I can and hope for the very best. Worst case, I can always delete my account if I truly have to. Fingers crossed though such will not be the case!
I'm very touched that you found me here, too, and sincerely appreciate your comment and Christmas wishes!
Sending tons of festive cheer, positive health & fibro friendly hugs your way,
♥ Jessica
